The impact of robotics is multi-dimensional with the integration of digital elements. It is not surprising that a vast amount of them is deployed in the retail industry. The retail industry has always been an early adopter of advanced technologies. Automation had set in early to create efficiencies in the retail supply chain. Robotic solutions can reduce employee turnover, fulfill orders more quickly and streamline the process. It becomes the answer to increasing efficiency, industry-wide staffing shortage, and improving order accuracy.

Overcoming Staffing Issue

Warehouses and distribution centers are in short of skilled workers. Artificial Intelligence is driven Robot picking can help retailers to overcome this issue and consistently meet output demands to get orders out the door quickly. This technology easily collaborates with warehouse management system software and separates multi-stock keeping units into individual customer orders. Robots facilitate retailers with a more efficient workforce that requires less manpower. With robotics in place of manpower, the demand for competitive hiring can be decreased. With these retailers enjoy less pressure to recruit and retain skilled workers.

Enhancing Customer Experience

Robotic self-service systems can enhance customer experience with preorders and payments. They constantly work at a consistent pace without any distraction, helps retailers meet their output goals. End consumer happiness is a key performance indicator of online retailers. Sensor features of robotic systems can evaluate customer count, path-tracking, behaviors, attention spans and emotions and the customer scoring system can spot unhappy customers and use their feedback for corrective actions.  Virtual reality combined with robotics can enable consumers to immerse in a virtual environment for a more engaging and enticing shopping experience.

Ensuring Order Accuracy

Human error on the warehouse floor is unavoidable. AI combined robots with the capability of automated scanning guarantees the product data and order fulfillment id accurate. Robot picking technologies use a unique algorithm to navigate them through the activities. Every retailer will have custom packaging and stock keeping unit placement which can be taught to the robot over time.

Safeguarding Retail Infrastructure

Robotic solutions can be used as a utility service. Retailers can trial robotic solutions without making a huge investment, and experience great benefits over time that reminds human capabilities with Robots as a Service (RaaS) model. A RaaS model with AI capabilities enhances the equipment’s capabilities with each pick, and can quickly scale based on capacity needs.

Using intelligent robot solutions, retailers can improve their operations as the consumer demand increases, while creating a dynamic workforce combined with human skills.
