3 Important Features of Accounting Software

CIOAdvisor Apac | Wednesday, January 13, 2021
Tweet

The companies are using accounting software to help the companies in activities like monitoring past-due receivables efficiently.

FREMONT, CA: It can be challenging to control the company's finances, which is why they need accounting software to help them track the cash as it flows in and out of the accounts. There are many time-saving solutions for quality systems that decrease the time companies spend entering data into the system. Accounting software can make things like invoicing the clients, documenting the payments, and monitoring past-due receivables much simpler and quicker, depending on the program they have.

The complexity of the program, however, will differ by vendor. Although some programs have just the basics, allowing them to record what is coming in and what is going out, other businesses provide more sophisticated software, automating activities that they would otherwise have to perform manually, like regular transfers of data through a bank stream, reconciliation, and recurring invoicing.

What are the features of accounting software?

Now that companies are familiar with what accounting software is and why they must utilize it, it is crucial to know which tools and features to look for when selecting a framework. In order to ensure consistency and to provide receivable accounts, payable accounts, banking, and reporting functions, almost all online accounting software utilizes double-entry accounting. Some may provide inventory control, project management, time monitoring, and payroll tools, but these characteristics typically cost extra in higher-tier plans or add-ons. Here are some critical elements of accounting applications.

Accounts receivable

The accounting software system must manage billing and keep a record of what consumers owe and their payments (accounts receivable, or A/R). Here are some of the core characteristics of A/R to look for.

• Payment processing

• Invoice processing

• Automatic processing

Accounts payable

Noone likes paying bills, but any company needs to keep track of what they owe. The manner in which the accounting system manages the outflow side of the funds will differ. Here are some of the most beneficial features of payable (A/P) accounts.

• Vendor credit memos

• IRS tax forms

• Purchase orders

• Automatic payment

Payroll

In some accounting systems, payroll modules are highly advanced, providing complete payroll services that can do everything from calculating hours and processing salaries to paying payroll taxes and making 401(k) deductions. For accounting software, below are some of the best payroll features.

• Direct deposit

• Expense reimbursements and deductions

• Variable wage schedules

• Automatic tax calculations
