Smart Retail with Oracle's New AI Assistant

CIOAdvisor Apac | Monday, January 28, 2019

In recent years, retailers are moving online to attract customers and attract visitors to buy products. In order to achieve this, retailers should be given experience and training with online tools and their operability facilitating users to get their requirements easily with secure purchase option. Also, building a trust-based relationship amongst retailers and customers is a critical task, especially in online purchasing. Solving these issues through manual process is found to be inefficient and time-consuming.  To fasten and speed-up the recruiting process, Oracle, a cloud-based online platform came up with a solution of leveraging Artificial Intelligence technologies in online retail services.

Earlier this year, Oracle being one of the disruptors of the digital landscape, came-up with a unique digital assistant tool that facilitates independent and departmental stores to employ AI driven technologies at all the stages of the business sector. At Oracle Open World 2018, the digital assistant was officially launched sourcing the key features on-demand from official support analysts so that employees can effectively spend their time on other retail-related tasks.

In general, conversational AI systems are implemented at the front-end design process, guiding employees in-store, along with assisting customers to purchase online. In conventional systems, simple chatbots are used as assistant tools in e-commerce. However, the unique integration tool comprising digital assistant and Oracle retail offer optimization cloud service, providing better retail service by deploying AI applications to the breadth of online retail business.

The assistant is designed in particular to work with areas such as location-specific sales forecasting, promotional deployment and performance, approval automation and target priority setting. Users can ask nuanced questions through the digital assistant and choose from different prompts until the relevant information is located. The AI function means that the technology adapts to the specific context and intent of the user over time, and becomes faster and more efficient. Continuous usage of this tool allows AI to learn with the user experiences, recalibrating the algorithm to achieve better user-friendly services.

Presently, AI assistant tools are already used in numerous products such as Alexa, Google Home, and Siri to monitor and control numerous tasks. Like these assistants, Oracle Digital Assistant not only works with voice commands but also with text commands and can provide answers in either formatThis latest integration gives retail operations the power and simplicity of the voice.
