1. Turn off your camera to reduce your carbon footprint: A recent study by Purdue University indicated that for every 60 minutes of streaming video, nearly 12 liters of water are used and 15-1000g of carbon dioxide is emitted. By turning off your camera during video conferencing, you can reduce your carbon footprint and cut carbon emissions by 96%. Since it's the age of sustainability, this is a very simple way through which a company can cut its carbon emission and become greener.
2. Google offering image search and recommendation for retailers: A new suite called Product Discovery Solutions for Retail, was launched by Google which includes 2 new functions that use Machine Learning to help retailers use Google's cloud services better. These are called Recommendations AI and Called Vision API. The vision search will allow customers to submit a photograph of the product they are looking for and in return be matched to similar products. The recommendation function will keep a record of the customer's shopping history and suggest similar products in the future. These functions will enable the customers to have a customized experience that is tailored particularly for them which can heavily increase the online purchasing activities.
3. Microsoft teaming up with Cruise and GM to develop self-driving cars: This relationship is expected to commercialize autonomous cars more quickly than expected. Cruise will use Microsoft Azure cloud service to develop the relevant technology e and Microsoft will focus on providing cruise with the logistics. GM is also expected to use Microsoft cloud services.
4. Drone manufacturer TraceAir raises $3.5 million: TraceAir now has total funding of $7 million. Dress air is expected to use the funding for our research and development purposes as well as for marketing campaigns. The startup is positive that their drone management tool will be able to provide great benefits to the construction companies which are facing a lot of obstacles due to the covid-19 pandemic.
5. Citrix acquires Wrike for $2.25 billion: Software company Citrix recently acquired work management platform Wrike for $2.25 billion. Wrike provides a platform for companies to track their projects, teams, work processes, and deadlines. Citrix is aiming to provide cloud-based services to companies that are still continuing work from home.
