A 10-year 5G agreement between Ericsson and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) is intended to help Malaysia's economy and enable extensive deployment of next-generation wireless cellular technologies.
FREMONT, CA: Malaysia will be digitally transformed thanks to 5G's speed, low latency, and large-data-handling capabilities, as well as a 5G ecosystem that will power innovation in areas like artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and automation across a variety of enterprise, industry, and multi-sector Internet of Things (IoT) use cases.A 10-year 5G agreement between Ericsson and Digital Nasional Berhad(DNB) to enable the widespread deployment of next-generation wireless cellular technology in Malaysia is expected to benefit Malaysia and its economy.
DNB will provide access and services to mobile service providers and others licensed by the regulators to enable a world-class 5G experience and make Industry 4.0 a reality in Malaysia by leveraging the capabilities of 5G and accelerating the deployment of Malaysia's nationwide 5G network and ecosystem.
Ericsson's engagement in Malaysia's national 5G project would result in both direct and indirect socio-economic benefits, including job creation, partnerships with Bumiputera and other local contractors and ecosystem stakeholders, and knowledge and capacity building. Ericsson Radio System products and solutions, including Ericsson Spectrum Sharing, software enabling wide-area 5G coverage, are delivered through DNB's exclusive relationship with Ericsson. The scope also includes nationwide deployment of cloud-native 5G Core and 5G Radio Access (RAN). Ericsson's flagship Managed Services product, Ericsson Operations Engine, will also manage the particular requirements of a single wholesale network. The solution will improve DNB's network performance by predicting and preventing faults via AI, automation, and cognitive software.
Operational support systems (OSS) and business support systems (BSS) solutions are also part of Ericsson's end-to-end offering.
DNB is responsible for assisting Malaysia in realizing its digital ambitions, as defined in the government's MyDIGITAL vision, which aims to convert Malaysia into a digitally driven, high-income nation that is a regional leader in digital content, cyber security, and the digital economy.
